Mr. Manuel Szapiro was appointed Director of the European Commission Representation in Barcelona on 1 June 2021.
Until May 2021 he has been working as Deputy Head of Cabinet of European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, in charge of Inter-Institutional Issues and Strategic Foresight.
Prior to that, Manuel Szapiro was a member of Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič Cabinet, then responsible building the Energy Union. He was then steering amongst others the European Battery Alliance.
